Avon Select Board approves solar speed-limit signs, staffing, and contracts. Chair Jason L. Suzor, Clerk Eric S.
Beckerman, and Associate Shannon M. Coffey unanimously approved two solar-powered speed-limit signs for East Street at approximately $9,000, funded from a 2021 warrant article, after Police Chief Jeffrey Bukunt and Fire Chief David Charest opposed traditional speed humps. The board unanimously appointed Corron Wilson as Interim Senior Water Operator (Grade PW-3, Step 1, effective February 2, 2026) and Steven Gallant as Highway Laborer (Grade PW-2, Step 2), appointed Andrew Foley to the Conservation Commission through June 2028, and approved a $20,000 stormwater contract with Comprehensive Environmental Inc., a $7,500 CDBG closeout, a $6,304.80 Council on Aging heating repair, and a $40,000 Horsley Witten Group planning contract.
The board also designated St. Michael's Church basement as the emergency polling location for 2026–2027 and voted to place a Redevelopment Authority vacancy on the Annual Town Election ballot.
