AVON — Select Board appoints Erickson to Council on Aging, hires summer staff. The five-member Avon Select Board voted unanimously at its May 21 meeting to appoint Gary Erickson to the Council on Aging Board, choosing him over registered nurse Mildred Cudmore-Selman in a joint workshop interview process that Town Administrator Jonathan L. Beder characterized as following proper procedure.
The board also unanimously approved a three-year Intermunicipal Agreement with Braintree for shared Veteran's Agent services at $7,000 annually beginning July 1, and appointed 16 summer program employees for Park & Recreation, including Assistant Director Alison Kaye at $25.75 hourly and 13 counselors ranging from Grade 1, Step 1 to Grade 1, Step 4. Two resignations were accepted: Library Director Elise LaForge (effective June 5) and Highway Laborer Steven Gallant (effective May 30).
