Avon approves labor contracts and police vehicles at Special Town Meeting. Moderator Michael Nelson opened the 56-voter assembly at 6:36 PM Tuesday, which approved successor collective bargaining agreements with A.F.S.C.M.E. Local 1395 (approximately $25,000 from FY26 Salary Reserve) and the Avon Firefighters Relief Association (approximately $1,500 from FY26 Salary Reserve).
Voters also authorized $156,000 from the CMVI Receipts Reserve ($35,000) and Free Cash ($121,000) for the purchase of one unmarked and one marked police vehicle, and transferred $274,551 from prior-year funds to finance repairs to Town Hall and Council on Aging offices.
