AVON — Select Board approves fire department grant applications and interim accountant. The board unanimously authorized Fire Chief David Charest and Assistant Chief Brad Cronin to apply for three FEMA grant programs (SAFER, AFG, FP&S) with applications due June 22, 2026, targeting four new firefighter positions and equipment upgrades; a successful award would require local cost shares ranging from five to 65 percent. The board also contracted with Eric A.
Kinsherf, CPA LLC, for interim Town Accountant services from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, at up to $10,000 monthly following the June departure of Theresa Provencal. Amanda McKay was appointed Interim Library Director effective June 6, 2026. The board unanimously endorsed a Cease-and-Desist Order at 227 East Main Street following discovery of building code violations including missing exit signs, nonfunctional smoke detectors, and unpermitted work.
