Select Board · Meeting of February 19, 2026
Avon Select Board approves Fire budget, tables Schools pending cut demand. Chair Jason L. Suzor Sr., Clerk Eric S.
Beckerman, and Associate Shannon M. Coffey unanimously approved the Fire Department's $2,872,564 Fiscal Year 2027 budget, including $204,519 in personnel costs tied to a Memorandum of Agreement with the Professional Firefighter's union. All three Board members unanimously tabled School Superintendent Lori Jodoin's $12,870,933 request and demanded an additional $200,000 reduction beyond the $200,000 cut the district had already offered, citing the School Choice Funds balance and directing the Schools to reconsider without School Committee consent obtained.
The Board approved a $55,000 Haley & Ward water main design contract, appointed Robin Paull as full-time Station Clerk and Kenneth Baker as Highway Laborer, and established a Town Hall/Council on Aging Building Committee chaired by five carryover members with two alternates to identify and prioritize building repairs.
