Avon Select Board approves clerk transition from elected to appointed. Town Clerk Patricia Bessette resigned from elected office effective April 16, 2026, and assumed appointed status April 17 under legislation signed by the Governor following an October 2024 Town Meeting vote. Finance Director Jill Stewart was promoted from Interim to permanent Finance Director/Treasurer-Collector effective April 16.
The Board unanimously approved a Sustainable Purchasing Policy required to maintain eligibility for state recycling grants, and approved a 10,000 dollar Policy, Systems and Environment Prevention Project grant awarded to ACES for youth-led tobacco and vaping prevention work.
