Parks and Recreation approves incoming director, charts summer programs.

AVON — The Avon Parks and Recreation Commission unanimously approved the hiring of Christina Green as full-time Parks and Recreation Director, with a start date of February 2, 2026. Chairperson Ben Chapman and Commissioners Lyons, Belvin, Fischer, and Hart also advanced summer program planning, posting for an Assistant Director, Supervisor, Lead Counselor, and counselor roles ahead of tentative program dates of July 6 through August 14. Avon Youth Baseball announced its closure due to insufficient volunteer and participant interest and will redirect remaining funding toward improvements to the batting cage at Crowley Sylvester Field.
The commission agreed to concentrate baseball field maintenance efforts on the softball field and Noonan field going forward.
