Avon School Committee approves wellness policy, facility updates, food service growth

Avon School Committee votes unanimously to approve district wellness policy. The committee accepted donations from the Butler ASA for supplies and from Alan Dunham of musical instruments valued at an unspecified amount. Superintendent Lori Jodoin reported the district met with police to strengthen crisis management procedures and hosted in-person Special Education monitoring by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Finance Director Larry Azer presented an FY 2026 budget overview showing facility improvements completed and ongoing at both Avon Media High School and Butler Elementary. Food Service Director Anna Branco reported breakfast participation at the high school grew from 10 to approximately 100 students daily and lunch rose from 120 to between 260 and 300 students daily since 2022.
