AVON — Selectmen ratify AFSCME labor contract, reject vote-by-mail for April election. Town Administrator Gregory S. Enos presented a Memorandum of Agreement reached between the town and AFSCME bargaining unit; Chairman Eric S.
Beckerman and Clerk Jason L. Suzor Sr. voted unanimously to ratify and authorize Enos to sign the contract, with a special town meeting slated for January to address funding. Town Clerk Patricia C.
Bessette recommended opting out of vote-by-mail citing town costs of approximately 86 cents per ballot; both selectmen voted in favor (2-0). The board also authorized a 197,585 dollar Community Compact grant for water-system cybersecurity improvements, appointed Matthew Pauliks as a new constable, and approved annual license renewals for restaurants and retailers.
