Avon approves $23 million fiscal 2024 budgets and school facility petition. The Board of Selectmen voted to adopt spending plans for the Avon Public Schools at $10,460,906, Department of Public Works at $1,537,144, Blue Hills Regional School District at $845,400, and the Fire Department, along with a new $40,000 town planner position and administrative assistant positions. Chairman Eric S.
Beckerman and Clerk Jason L. Suzor authorized the superintendent to submit an application to the Massachusetts School Building Authority addressing deficiencies at Ralph D. Butler Elementary School, including an aging modular classroom unit nearing the end of its 20-year lifespan and asbestos-containing materials in the main building.
