AVON — Finance Committee approves four FY24 budgets unanimously, splits 6-1 on schools. The committee unanimously backed the Town Moderator, Town Planner at $60,000 for nine months, Fire Department, and Department of Public Works budgets on March 23. The school budget passed 6-1, with Richard Jordan opposing a 6 percent increase endorsed by the Select Board; he argued instead for a 4 percent increase to align with prior years.
Daniel Norian argued the Finance Committee should vote on the school budget regardless of prior Select Board approval. The next meeting is April 6 at 6:30 p.m. to make recommendations on town meeting articles for May 2.
