AVON — Selectmen defer FY24 budget action on five major departments. The Board of Selectmen on March 2 approved the Fiscal Year 2024 Proposed Operating Budget for most departments but deferred the Town Planner, Fire Department, Department of Public Works, Avon Public Schools, and Blue Hills Regional Vocational School budgets for further discussion. Interim Town Administrator James P.
Purcell presented budget status including stabilization accounts, local receipts, and state aid; the three-member board also appointed Dylan Benoit as Assistant Library Director effective March 20, appointed Julie Tallent to the Board of Registrars, and approved a professional certification stipend for Executive Assistant Shanna M. Faro.
