School Committee authorizes MSBA bid for Butler Elementary

Avon School Committee votes to advance MSBA bid for Butler Elementary. The committee unanimously authorized Superintendent Christine Godino to submit a Statement of Interest to the Massachusetts School Building Authority for the Ralph D. Butler Elementary building, which contains a modular unit installed in 2004 now at the end of its 20-year design life and asbestos tile flooring and ceilings throughout the main building.
The application also cites roof and window leaks and the lack of dedicated library, music, art, and computer lab space. SOI submission is the first step in the MSBA capital funding process and does not guarantee state funding or program acceptance.
