School Committee approves reserve fund, HVAC upgrade

Avon School Committee approves HVAC upgrade and establishes special education reserve fund. The five-member committee approved establishment of a reserve fund for special education, out-of-district tuition, and transportation expenses, and unanimously approved a $45,000 transfer from free cash for a rooftop HVAC unit at Avon Middle-High School. Superintendent Christine Godino reported that materials for the Butler School parking lot capital project are on order, with construction set to begin in mid-May and complete by fall.

The committee also ratified the AFSCME labor agreement and approved continued participation in the School Choice program for 2021-2022.
