Planning Board backs self-service gasoline sales zoning change

DocumentCenter · Meeting of April 15, 2021

Avon Planning Board unanimously recommends zoning change to allow self-service gas sales. Jason Suzor, Jr. moved to amend Section 255-5.3 of the Zoning Bylaw to permit self-service gasoline sales in the general business district through a special permit process, seconded by Charles Marinelli; the measure passed unanimously. Currently only full-service fueling by attendant is allowed.

Building Inspector Robert Borden noted the change would be limited to the general business district under state law provisions for special permits. The board separately voted unanimously to recommend accepting Fagan Drive as a public way and to accept an altered roadway layout on Pond Street near Bodwell Street as part of a state highway reconstruction project.
