Finance Committee recommends four of four town meeting articles, rejects police vehicle purchase.

Finance Committee · Meeting of January 8, 2026

AVON — Finance Committee recommends three of four Special Town Meeting articles. Chair Suzzette Waters and the committee approved articles funding the first year of an AFSCME Local 1395 collective bargaining agreement at $25,000 from FY26 Salary Reserve and an Avon Firefighters Relief Association contract at $1,500 from FY26 Salary Reserve, both with wage adjustments of 3 percent in both FY26 and FY27. The committee also recommended transferring $274,551 in remaining funds from a failed 2024 municipal complex design project to Town Hall and Council on Aging repairs.

The committee unanimously declined to recommend Article 3, a $156,000 police vehicle purchase request split between Free Cash and the CMVI Receipts Reserve, calling it "not fiscally responsible."
