Avon Council on Aging discontinues cable Chair Yoga program. The board, led by Karen Johnson, Co-Chair, and Jayne Carthas, COA Director, unanimously voted to move the Chair Yoga class from broadcast on Avon Cable to in-person sessions at the center. New kitchen staff have been added, and the board is pursuing improvements including round, foldable tables for the lunchroom.
The director and Gayle Bellotti will coordinate with police on house-number installation for seniors, and the free van transportation program continues through June 1. Three community education initiatives were approved: the "Are You Okay?" telephone reassurance program, an "Until Help Arrives" first-aid program, and the Yellow Dot vehicle-information program.
