Avon Council on Aging relaunches with 50-person BBQ and expanded summer programming. Interim Director Jayne Carthas reported the opening lunch drew 50 residents and marked the agency's return to in-person activities. Board members, including Co-Chairs Karen Johnson and Nancy Puckett, authorized several new initiatives: bingo games with coffee and pastry every other Wednesday, a paper-shredding service for residents, and plans to hire an exercise instructor for stretching sessions.
Two new laptops have been acquired for seniors with future computer classes under consideration. A July 29 lunch at Fish & Game with Chick-fil-A sandwiches is scheduled, and the Avon Police Department will visit July 22 for a community conversation.
