Zoning board denies in-law apartment at Oak Street

DocumentCenter · Meeting of July 20, 2021

Avon Zoning Board denies 85 Oak Street in-law conversion, citing unpermitted space. Chair Kevin Foster led the unanimous vote rejecting both a Special Permit and Variance for Oluwaseun Osifade's request to legalize an existing 1,390 square foot addition that exceeds the allowed 770 square foot limit by nearly double. Board member Ed Mekjian moved the denial, noting the vastly oversized footprint.

The board also approved a $1,055.44 payment to Gatehouse Media for advertising costs associated with this case and others, including $541.08 for the 28 Nichols Avenue project and $514.36 for the 20 Ledin Avenue project, and voted to request increased application fees from the Board of Selectmen to offset future advertising expenses.
