Avon Council on Aging outlines winter calendar and new initiatives. Jane Carthas, COA Director, and council members approved the September meeting minutes and discussed the Senior to Senior Program launching November 1st, pairing high school seniors with council members for servicemen card-writing. The council is planning a Thanksgiving Day Lunch at $5 for Avon residents and $15 for out-of-town seniors, and a Veterans Day Lunch on November 10th featuring The Highway Men.
On November 3, Patty Sullivan and Rep. William Galvin will present a Dementia Friendly designation certificate at a Board of Selectmen meeting, and the Senior Tax Work Off Program is set to launch in January.
