Board rejects residential truck parking permit

DocumentCenter · Meeting of December 7, 2021

Avon denies special permit for residential truck parking. The Zoning Board of Appeals unanimously rejected Alessandro DaSilva's request for a special permit to park a 2017 International truck with a gross vehicle weight rating up to 80,000 pounds at his 532 East Main Street residence. DaSilva, a driver for Rock Transportation Inc., argued the truck was necessary to comply with federal hours-of-service regulations, but abutter Deborah Sheridan objected citing early-morning noise and the ongoing business operation.

Board members unanimously cited the zoning prohibition on residential businesses and safety concerns tied to the property's location on a State Road.
