Board of Health extends septic plan, places market on 45-day compliance watch.
Board of Health · Meeting of March 12, 2026
Avon Board of Health approves septic extension and market compliance watch. The board unanimously extended the septic plan at 250 West Main Street to March 13, 2027, requiring tank pumping within two weeks and a pumping record submission. Owner Yomi Ayoola of Olu's African Market must complete a 45-day remediation plan addressing food safety violations, with a hired consultant conducting weekly visits and reporting to the board; any future violations in labeling, packaging, bathrooms, sanitizing, food preparation, or receiving will result in immediate closure.
The Compost Site resumes Saturday, Sunday, and Wednesday operations beginning April 1, with an additional $2,500 appropriated from the Board of Health budget for Conservation Commission-required monitoring well installations.
