Avon shortens election hours, moves up town meeting to 7 p.m.

Avon reduces election hours, advances town meeting start. The Board of Selectmen approved the warrant for the May 3 annual town meeting during a March 24 workshop, with Clerk Eric S. Beckerman and Associate Jason L.
Suzor voting to reduce election hours from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. to 11 a.m.-7 p.m. on April 12. Town Clerk Patricia C. Bessette cited the absence of contested races.
The board advanced the town meeting start from 7:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. to allow more time for warrant articles, as requested by Town Administrator Gregory S. Enos. Beckerman noted that except for the budget, all warrant articles will be funded through free cash or available funds, not raise and appropriation.
