Avon schools drop mask mandate February 28
DocumentCenter · Meeting of February 9, 2022
Avon schools drop mask mandate February 28. The School Committee accepted the state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's decision, citing high vaccination rates and low district COVID cases — just one student and one staff case reported over the past week. Superintendent Christine Godino reported that 100 staff and 185 students enrolled in at-home antigen testing.
The committee also learned of two resignations: AMHS Principal Down Stockwell after six years and history teacher Jay Donovan, who accepted an assistant principal position elsewhere. A NESDEC facilities study committee will survey families of students in pre-K through sixth grade.
