Avon Schools approve hybrid reopening for fall 2020
DocumentCenter · Meeting of August 10, 2020
AVON — The Avon School Committee unanimously approves hybrid reopening model for fall 2020. Superintendent Christine Godino recommended the hybrid approach following a feasibility study and Department of Elementary and Secondary Education guidance, allowing teachers to meet with students every week while maintaining masks, social distancing, and student cohorts. The Avon Education Association had surveyed its membership and found 82.8 percent preferred a fully remote opening, though the AEA acknowledged the district's contingency plans to shift models if needed.
The committee also unanimously approved subcommittee assignments for the 2020-2021 year and recognized the recent graduation of the Class of 2020.
