Avon School Committee approves AFSCME labor agreement

Avon schools approve labor pact, move sixth grade to high school. The School Committee voted 4-0 to approve a memorandum of agreement with AFSCME, settling union contract terms. Superintendent Christine Godino reported on implementation of a comprehensive facilities plan that will relocate sixth grade students to Avon High School for the 2023-24 school year, following an NESDEC study.

The district is implementing federal ESSER III funding to address pandemic-related learning loss.
