Avon Library halts new staffing as selectmen tighten budget

Avon Library's staff expansion stalls as selectmen reject new positions. Library Director Ann Fogg reported to the trustees March 10 that the Board of Selectmen and Finance Committee rejected the library's staffing request but approved raises for existing part-time employees. The selectmen asked the library to explore internships and provide additional details on the Young Adult programming position.
The library hired Heather Wade for a new Senior Circulation position as staff member Nabila Abdulsalam departed effective March 7.
