Avon authorizes land acquisition for Harrison Boulevard roadway improvements

Avon Special Town Meeting authorizes land acquisition for Harrison Boulevard roadway improvements. The assembly voted 56 to 5 to grant the Board of Selectmen authority to acquire land rights and easements on 12 properties along Pond Street and Bodwell Street for MASS DOT Project Number 608086, which includes traffic signal replacement, roadway widening, and sidewalk construction. The meeting also approved two collective bargaining agreements, transferring $35,000 from the Salary Reserve for the first year of three-year contracts effective July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2022 with the Avon Police Relief Association, IBPO Local 383, and AFSCME, Local 1195.
