School Committee elects slate of officers; approves health teacher

Avon School Committee elects officers for coming year, approves new health teacher position. The committee unanimously elected Tracy Sheehan as chair, Anne Hagberg as vice chair, and Sharon Marble as secretary. Superintendent Christine Godino reported staff transitions including the retirement of 16-year Speech and Language Therapist Robin Harris and two instructional assistants, while announcing that Officer Nancy will take over School Resource Officer duties in the fall.
The committee unanimously approved a new Health Teacher position for Avon Middle High School and approved a preschool expansion to accommodate 17 students, including a new full-day program for students with significant needs, requiring a severe special needs teacher and two instructional assistants.
