School Committee approves lunch program transfer
DocumentCenter · Meeting of March 31, 2021
Avon School Committee approves $68K transfer for free-lunch shortfall. The committee unanimously backed a $68,316 FY21 transfer to cover the cost of free student lunches through June, after federal reimbursement fell short of program expenses. Superintendent Christine Godino reported on the district's phased return to in-person learning: pre-K through grade 3 students already back, grades 4-6 returning April 5, and Avon Middle High School resuming full in-person instruction April 12.
The Butler school's new outdoor cafe will alternate student lunch seating between indoor and outdoor spaces weekly, and Holbrook High School will host Avon's graduation at its football stadium.
