School board tables mask policy, defers to state mandate
DocumentCenter · Meeting of August 25, 2021
Avon schools prepare for fall reopening as Committee defers mask policy to state. Superintendent Christine Godino reported that Avon Middle-High School and Butler Elementary are prepared for reopening, with professional development days scheduled for August 30-31 and classes beginning September 1 for most grades and September 7 for Pre-K and Kindergarten. The School Committee voted 4 to 0 to table action on a local face coverings policy, instead deferring to the state mask mandate issued by Commissioner Riley.
The committee also unanimously approved 2021-2022 handbook changes for both schools, a cooperative sports agreement with Holbrook Schools, and AMHS Boosters fundraising activities.
