Conservation Commission approves April minutes; discusses DW Field Park proposal.

Conservation Commission · Meeting of May 14, 2026

AVON — The Avon Conservation Commission approved April minutes and discussed a proposal to close portions of DW Field Park's ring road to vehicular traffic. Members Chris Canducci and Edward Mekjian voiced strong opposition, citing safety concerns for visitors and anticipated camping of unhoused individuals. Chair Paul Garcia, departing June 30, led a lengthy discussion on board reorganization covering responsibilities, communications, training, and role reassignments, though no decisions were made.

The commission unanimously approved a $300 payment to conservation agent Jim Conlon and reviewed an annual Community Preservation Act notice and a quarterly Walmart monitoring report confirming compliance.
