Butler Elementary outlines phased return to full in-person school
DocumentCenter · Meeting of March 3, 2021
Avon School Committee receives plan for Butler Elementary to return to full in-person instruction beginning March 15. Superintendent Christine Godino and Sarah Shaw presented a phased reopening with PreK-3 grades starting March 15 and grades 4-6 beginning April 5. Parents must choose between fully remote or full five-day in-person learning; the hybrid option will be discontinued.
The school will implement safety protocols including mask-wearing indoors, desks spaced three to six feet apart, and an outdoor tent for lunch rotation. Approximately 60 students have opted to remain fully remote, with three dedicated remote teachers providing about 90 minutes of live instruction daily.
