Avon Council on Aging advances dementia-friendly initiative and expands services for seniors. Council Director Fane Carthas reported lunch attendance averaging 40 seniors daily and proposed providing complimentary lunch to the four seniors who serve each day; planned activities include Christmas dinner, microwave replacement, and Sheriff Department sand-bucket distribution. The Council advanced plans for six dementia-friendly signs to be placed around town and coordinated fire and police department training in dementia awareness beginning in January.
