By-Law Committee Refines Noise Bylaw Draft

By-Law Committee · Meeting of July 21, 2025

AVON — By-Law Committee meets to refine three draft bylaws ahead of August warrant deadline. Chair Malik Sabree's committee reviewed the Dog, Nondomesticated/Livestock, and Noise bylaws, deciding not to rush the August 21 warrant deadline and instead present the drafts to the Select Board first. Most discussion centered on the Noise Bylaw adapted from Stoughton's model; the committee removed "public" from the noise definition, added "trash/recycle collection" and "animals" to prohibited noise sources, and questioned a "150 feet" distance threshold.

Town Planner Richard Jordan noted the Police Department views late-night noise as a minor concern. Committee members will review updated drafts before the next meeting.
