Avon approves $27.5 million FY2022 budget and capital spending

AVON — Annual Town Meeting approves $27.5 million FY2022 budget and $2.8 million in capital. Moderator Frank Staffier oversaw 33 of 34 articles, with major approvals for Fire Department equipment totaling $475,000 and $275,000 for water system improvements. The town established a special education reserve fund with $200,000 from Free Cash.

The meeting defeated a zoning amendment to permit self-service gasoline sales by a vote of 36 in favor and 19 opposed, falling short of the required two-thirds majority.
